The Tenth Bread of Christmas: Krendl (Russian Christmas Bread)

Here we are, Friends and Fellow Bakers, coming close to the end of my 12 breads of Christmas series!

I had never heard of this bread before, but I am really glad I made it. It was my favourite of the fruit breads to eat by far. I used this recipe by chainbaker.com, which called for dried leaves and fresh apples. I have no idea where to get dried pears, so I inverted these and used dried apples and fresh pears. I also used apricots and currants.

The assembly of this bread is similar to strudel, where the dough is rolled out and then spiral rolled around the filling. I think this could have used slightly more filling so it would have been more layered looking when it was sliced. Other than that it was incredibly delicious with the slightest little pinch of salt taste at the very end that is just perfect.
